| 04 Mar 2022 | 3091 Views |

Infertility had been one of the major problems faced across the globe by married couples. There have been several causes for the same. The two key factors responsible for infertility have been biological changes and lifestyle. Many couples take the problem of being childless seriously and consider it a curse which is not at all encouraged by medical professionals. Medical experts have many options to overcome the problem of fertility using the different modern and latest advancements in the healthcare sector.

Many couples in different age group have enjoyed the benefit of IVF procedures from the top fertility centers in the country namely India IVF Clinic, Gurugram and more. Some of the popular advanced treatment modalities include Embryo Glue, Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting [MACS], Sperm Pentox Therapy, Microfluidic Sperm Sorter Qualis, Facematch Treatment, Pentoxifylline, sequential embryo transfer, laser-assisted hatching, preimplantation genetic techniques, genetic screening, and endometrial health assessment.

People with varied types of fertility challenge has take benefit of the above-mentioned treatment modalities. Many of hopeless couples have enjoyed the happiness of motherhood and fatherhood which gives pleasure beyond expectation. No married couple or family need to lose hope as there are multiple ways to get rid of the problem creating obstacle in pregnancy with the natural process.

Let us below learn more about the demanding treatment modalities:

Embryo Glue

As we all know, Embryo Transfer is one of the essential stages in the treatment of IVF. We will try to find out the definition of Embryo Glue and its essential role in improving implantation and pregnancy rates through the treatment cycle of IVF. The term “Embryo Glue” refers to the hyaluronan-enriched embryo transfer [ET] which assists in the implantation of embryos during the treatment of In Vitro Fertilization-ET cycle [IVF-ET] thereby improving the rates of pregnancy. Embryo Glue acts as a helping hand while transferring the embryos to the womb of the woman.

The Embryo Glue increases the chances of implantation of embryos as it closely mimics the natural environment of the womb at the time of implantation. Due to the presence of nutrients and energy which are substrates in EmbryoGlue needed at the time of implantation to resemble the natural environment as soon as possible. It is not actual glue, but functions as glue by improving the chances of implantation of embryos to the womb as it consists of the concentration of hyaluronan and human albumin which promotes implantation.

The Embryo Glue consists of hyaluronan which is the natural substance present in the tissues of the body and is an important aspect for embryo development and implantation. Hyaluronan as a substance is already present in the womb and increases the levels when the women become pregnant. Embryo Glue formulates the concentration of hyaluronan to examine the level of wombs during implantation.

Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting (MACS)

Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting is a method of separating various types of the cell depending upon its differentiation. It isolates the cell distinction of higher purity around 90%. However, in the treatment of IVF, magnetic-activated cell sorting is used to separate sperm preparation in the patient. The magnetic-activated cell sorting is a method which increases the efficiency for the couples who have unexplained infertility which tends to have low fertilization rates and uses the current procedure of IVF.

Magnetic-Activated Cell Sorting [MACS] allows the spermatozoa with its best characteristics to be selected for its use in the Assisted Reproduction Treatment as all spermatozoa have limited vitality and exist through the process known as Apoptosis. The oocyte fertilized through Apoptosis Spermatozoa have the abnormal development of embryos which ultimately leads to early miscarriages but with the method of MACS, we can label the Apoptosis Spermatozoa which will then pass to the separation column located inside the magnetic field. The Apoptosis Spermatozoa will retain inside the column.

The Spermatozoa without the sign of Apoptosis passes through the column located inside the magnetic field and will be collected for the later use. Healthy Sperms can be used for the treatment of IVF, IUI, and ICSI to cure infertility issues of the patients.

MACS procedure is used mainly for the following category of the patients:

  • Patients treated with Artificial Insemination
  • Infertile patients having the high level of DNA segmentation in spermatozoa
  • Patients suffering from multiple miscarriages which are unexplainable
  • Patients who have bad embryo quality which is not accredited to oocytes.

Sperm Pentox Therapy

The Sperm Pentox Therapy is the therapy which improves the characteristic attributes of sperms during the treatment of oligoasthenozoospermia with the use of Pentoxifylline. The pentoxifylline strengthens the motility of the sperms and it also expands the chances of having a baby. Sperm motility is considered to be an important factor for success in the treatment of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection [ICSI]. Sperm Motility alludes to the right number of sperms and chromosomes available for a healthy pregnancy.

It is said that sperm with the rapid progression of 25 micrometres per second is the healthy sperm motility. It is rightly said that the man suffering from poor sperm motility is known as asthenospermia or asthenozoospermia. Asthenospermia affects pregnancy rates and Assisted Reproductive Technologies. However, low sperm motility lowers the chances of having a baby during the process of fertilization. Sperm motility plays an important role and what is more important is to maintain motility during the process of insemination and ovulation which may not coexist with each other.

Microfluidic Sperm Sorter Qualis

Sometimes, the conventional semen processing techniques produce bad effects on sperm deoxyribo nucleic acid [DNA] integrity decreasing the chances of pregnancy rates. The Microfluidic Sperm Sorter Qualis is a cutting-edge technology in which high motile sperms with good DNA integrity are separated from the semen so that it can help in fertilization of a human oocyte. The gravity-driven microfluidic device separates motile sperms with good DNA fragmentation from seminal plasma, dead plasma using Microfluidic Sperm Sorter Qualis.

The Microfluidic Sperm Sorter Qualis allows the effective recovery of motile sperms without DNA damage. The device is designed in such a manner in which non-motile sperms and debris flow along the initial stream whereas motile sperms isolate to another channel. The motile sperms collected in the separate chamber are used to fertilize ovum during the process of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection [ICSI]. This technique is useful in the cases where the male partner has small amounts of structured normal sperms or where sperms have higher DNA fragmentation.

The couples who have a poor quality of embryos or the treatment of IVF is failed despite a normal semen analysis report can go for this technique. According to researchers, the technique of Qualis leads to higher fertilization rates and formation of better embryos which ultimately increases the chance of pregnancy during the IVF treatment cycles.

Facematch Treatment

The Fenomatch is a facial machine tool in which the donor will find an accurate resemblance with the face of the recipient. The idea behind such treatment is to help patients who worry whether the donor-assisted child born out of the treatment of egg or sperm donation. The Face-match Treatment allows the recipient to match the donor through the measurement of the biometric distance of the donors and to compare it with you or your partner.

Earlier the fertility clinic explored the donor on the basis of quality and quantity of sperms and genetic features like hair colour, ethnicity and eye colour but with the Facematch Treatment, the donors are shortlisted by the likeness of the face. The Facematch Treatment scans over twelve thousand points to see the degree of similarity with you.

Pentoxifylline

Pentoxifylline is a drug that helps to improve your blood flow in legs and arms caused due to artery disorders. Pentoxifylline reduces the ache, pain and cramps in your legs which arise due to walking, exercise, jumping, running, etc. Pentoxifylline is useful if you have suffered from any kind of internal bleeding in your brain or the retaina of your eyes. The pentoxifylline improves the quality and quantity of the sperms during the treatment process of In Vitro Fertilization.

Pentoxifylline helps to circulate the blood flow to confined arteries. It enhances the levels of oxygen to be carried by the blood when needed by muscles during exercise. Researchers have studied that Pentoxifylline is a useful drug agent which improves the fertilization rate in male infertility. The excess Pentoxifylline can cause harmful effects on our body such as nausea, drowsiness, gas, vomiting, chest pain, etc. Because all the treatments need the expertise to perform it successfully, the useful advance treatment modalities is performed by a medical expert depending on the treatment need of a patient or a couple experiencing the challenge of fertility.

Sequential Embryo Transfer

The patients with good quality embryos fail in the treatment of In Vitro Fertilization, so the policy of Sequential Embryo Transfer which means that Embryo transfer takes place twice in the same cycle to increase the chances of implantation. The Embryo Transfer which takes place twice happens on Day 3 and Day 5 to improve the chances of implantation rate, pregnancy rate, and to accept multiple pregnancy rates to avoid the problems of transfer cycle and multiple order births which are part of Blastocyst Transfer. The Blastocyst Transfer improves the chances of IVF results. The Blastocyst Transfer in the procedure of Sequential Embryo Transfer serves two goals:

  • It selects the good quality embryos to be used for transfer.
  • It promotes synchronization with endometrium.

Embryo transfer is done twice in the same cycle at different days to improve the chances of implantation.

Laser Assisted Hatching

If the embryo/egg is too hard, laser is used for hatching purposes to increase implantation rate. The Laser-Assisted Hatching is a research-based technique in which egg/embryo is hatched from the outer layer of the shell and from the membrane called zona pellucida to increase the chances of the pregnancy rate. The technique of Assisted Hatching helps certain groups of patients who fail to get pregnant during the IVF cycle and the women who are not likely to get conceived. Thus, this technique helps to improve the chance of pregnancy rate.

The Laser Assisted Hatching technique results in the monozygotic twins which are identical twins who come from one egg and one sperm. Research states that the women who undergo the laser-assisted technique tend to implant earlier than unhatched embryos.

Preimplantation Genetic Techniques

Many times couples with recurrent implantation failures have anomalies with their embryos which can be detected before they are implanted using the different techniques. The Preimplantation Genetic Technique is a kind of technique which is used to navigate the genetic defects in the embryos created through the treatment of In Vitro fertilization. This type of technique is performed on polar bodies. The polar bodies are removed from oocytes blastomeres or trophectoderm cells are removed from preimplantation embryos and these cells are later used for genetic diagnosis by the expert medical professionals.

There are two types of Preimplantation Genetic Technique:

  • Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis: It is done when one genetic parent is abnormal and testing is performed to check whether an embryo carries any kind of genetic abnormality.
  • Preimplantation Genetic Screening: In this technique, embryos are presumed chronically normal from the genetic parent.

Preimplantation Genetic Techniques play a very vital role in overcoming challenging problems. These are carried or performed by experienced medical professionals only. The type of treatment and techniques to be used is purely decided by the treating doctor with the consent of the patients undergoing the required treatment.

Genetic Screening

How important genetic screening is for a particular patient, a doctor is the right person to decide? The Genetic Screening which is also known as DNA Screening is used to identify the changes in DNA Structures. This kind of testing is also done to investigate the changes in the genetic structure and identify the changes in the chromosome or genetics. The Genetic Screening is performed by collecting the samples of blood, hair, skin or any other tissue. However, the cost of Genetic Screening can be around $100 to $2000 depending upon the nature of the test. The cost of Genetic Screening can be increased if multiple family members need to be tested to obtain a meaningful result.

Infertility is not a curse. There are several causes of the problem and hence couples are advised to consider the infertility treatment at the early stage so that the case does not become complicated in the near future. Also, the need is to find the right treating medical doctor. Patients not only from the Indian states but also from abroad can book appointment over the phone or through an email for the professional consultation at the trusted treatment centre India IVF Clinic in Gurugram, India.

Endometrial Health Assessment

An array of different tests like ERA (Endometrial receptivity analysis), EMMA (Endometrial microbiome metagenomic analysis), and ALICE (Analysis of infectious chronic endometritis) can be done to make favourable decision. The Endometrial Health Assessment includes three kinds of tests such as ERA, EMMA, and ALICE which are performed from a single endometrial biopsy taken on the specific time.

ERA – It refers to Endometrial Receptivity Analysis which decides the optimal time taken in the cycle for the blastocyst transfer.

EMMA – It refers to Endometrial Microbiome Metagenomic which determines whether the endometrial bacterial environment is optimal for blastocyst implantation.

ALICE – It refers to Analysis of Infectious Chronic Endometritis which determine if there is chronic inflammation in the endometrium which might affect the procedure of ERA.

Unlike other treatment/techniques Endometrial Health Assessment has its great importance. But the final decision to use the right technique based on the reports and diagnosis depends on the medical professional treating a particular couple.
