IVF Procedure Step By Step

IVF cycle is considered as one-round IVF procedure with the first day of your period. You can begin the required injections and medications before the first day of the IVF cycle.

IVF Procedure’s Step 1: Day 1 of your IVF treatment period

Generally, the first day of your IVF treatment cycle is day one of your period, however, every patient’s body is different from one another. Your IVF doctor is helpful in knowing how to recognize day 1.

IVF Procedure’s Step 2: Ovaries stimulation

The stimulation stage begins from day 1. In a common monthly cycle, your ovaries commonly generate one egg. You need to intake medication for 8 to 14 days to give a better atmosphere to the follicles in your ovaries (where eggs reside) to generate more eggs.

The IVF doctor will prescribe medicines based on your treatment and body. It is generally in the shape of injection that can be different from 1-2 for the cycle or 1-2 for per day. However, it might not be easy for you to go through the process, but your fertility specialist will give you accurate and at what time to give injections. You can convince your partner to indulge in this process and gain knowledge of how to do it correctly. You will be habitual for it, and there will be no stress after that.

The most general hormones in the medication utilized to encourage follicles are

  • luteinizing hormone (LH)
  • follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)

We monitor ovaries and see how follicles are mounting along with ultrasound and blood tests. The medications can be altered or changed if it will be required. You need to go through a few transvaginal ultrasounds (scrutiny put in inside). India IVF team will look after you every time and never let you feel uncomfortable during the process.

We will investigate the patients repeatedly when the stimulation process is coming to an end, and then start the injection properly.

The process of trigger injection makes your eggs activated for ovulation ( it is a normal procedure where eggs are discharged, and the patient has their own period). Your fertility surgeon will give you information about the accurate time of trigger injection. Moreover, the fertility doctor will plan the egg retrieval prior to your ovulation.

IVF Procedure’s Step 3: Egg retrieval

Egg retrieval is a process where eggs are extracted from ovaries. For this, the doctor will give you local anesthesia so that they can do this egg retrieval process easily, without making you aware that you will be asleep due to anesthesia.

The fertility doctor uses advanced ultrasound methodology to insert a needle inside every ovary. It is a very sensitive procedure, where every millimeter matters, and here we only need the experienced and experts for that. The eggs in the ovaries cannot be seen through the naked eye as eggs are in the form of fluid inside the follicles inside your ovaries. The expert takes out fluid from the follicles, which seem like they have developed enough to form an egg internally.

It is the responsibility of your IVF doctor how he/she has been collect IVF information, such as how many eggs are present before egg retrieval through ultrasounds. The standard quantity of eggs retrieved differs from patient to patient.

After this process, the patient only needs half an hour for recovery. You can walk on your own, however, if you are taking support from your partner or relative, that’s good. But make sure you don’t drive immediately after the process; you won’t be able to do that.

IVF Procedure’s Step 4: The Sperm Retrieval

There are two situations: If you are thinking of fresh sperm, the male counterpart need to provide a fresh sperm sample in the morning at the time of egg retrieval

If you want to use frozen eggs, then our expert restored them in the lab.

The quality of sperm is calculated utilizing four diverse levels. It is cleaned in a special combination to make a slowdown, and a fertility expert can identify the best one via a microscope. The high-quality and accurate sperm will be not too thin as well as too fat. It will be with a tail, which is not too short or long. The best quality sperm are chosen, and they are prepared to mix with eggs in the lab

IVF Procedure’s Step 5: Fertilization

The fertility doctor will provide retrieved eggs to the scientists that are still in the form of a fluid (inside the follicles of the ovaries). Our scientists will inspect the eggs in the fluid to eliminate them.

The fertilization process of eggs needs to be in a rapid manner. The eggs and sperm are mixed in the lab. Then eggs and sperm identify each other and fertilize successfully similarly in the female body.

IVF Procedure’s Step 6: Development of Embryo (Embryo Transfer)

If the sperm fertilizes the egg, it becomes an embryo. Our scientists put the embryo into where the conditions for growth and development are perfect.

When the egg is fertilized by sperm, it is known as an embryo. The scientist keeps the embryo inside a particular incubator, where the chances of development and growth are favorable.

We at India IVF produce favorable development and growing situation by utilizing a combination of amino acids, the same as your body would perform to nourish the embryo.

The scientists take care of embryos for nearly 5-6 days. For that we require

A 2-4 cell embryo on 2nd day and 6 to 8 cell embryo on 3rd day (cleavage stage)

The embryos implantation at the blastocyst transfer stage inside the uterus increases the possibility of fruitful pregnancy.

Sadly, not all eggs need to be fertile and become an embryo. The reason for this is because of low-quality sperm or immature egg. The IVF doctor will make you aware of the development of your egg, sperm, and embryo development so that they can give you good news.

IVF Procedure’s Stage 7: Embryo transfer

The developed embryos are now prepared to insert into your uterus.

The fertility attendant will tell you to describe what you will require to do:

The process of embryo transfer is an effortless procedure, as it will hardly take 5 minutes. There is no requirement of anesthesia as it can be done when you are awake. You can easily stand straight away. You can do normal work. There is a myth about an embryo that it will fall out if you stand or go to the washroom, but actually, it doesn’t happen. You can do daily routine work after embryo transfer.

IVF surgeon uses a small tube known as a Catheter to transfer your embryo. This needs an experienced and expert doctor because the process is very sensitive and complicated. The doctor needs to make sure that the embryos are not disrupted during the whole process.

The fertility doctor will insert the Catheter via the cervix and inside your uterus.

IVF stands for In Vitro Fertilization, which is a part of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). The IVF Process is about the procedure of fertilization through retrieved eggs, sperm, and then physically mixes an egg and sperm in an IVF laboratory. The embryos, aka fertilized eggs, then infiltrated into the uterus.

Another segment of ART is intrafallopian zygote transfer (ZIFT) and gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT).
